
For vehicles traded in on a new vehicle through a dealer, the paperwork showing the transaction is acceptable.Contact your local Secretary of State’s office for further information on how to obtain this document. For vehicles sold or gifted to new owners in a private sale, a copy of the VSD 703 (Seller’s Report of Sale) signed by the seller and certified by the Secretary of State, is acceptable.For vehicles that have simply stopped working and ownership was transferred to a salvage company, a signed and dated copy of the paperwork showing ownership transfer is acceptable.For vehicles that have been determined to be totaled after an accident, a copy of the insurance settlement paperwork will be accepted.This letter must include the signature of the charity’s officer as well as contact information for same.


Alternatively, you may ask the charity to write a letter on its letterhead stationary with date of donation and other identifying information.
